Gaza Crisis: 45,000 Palestinians Dead, 53 Killed in Latest Attack
The conflict in Gaza continues as Israeli military operations escalate, resulting in massive casualties. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, over 45,000 Palestinians have died in Israeli attacks over the past 14 months, with more than 109,000 injured. Women and children make up the majority of the victims.
Current Situation in Gaza
The Israeli military carries out daily airstrikes across various parts of Gaza. These attacks have led to significant loss of life, displacement of families, and massive destruction. In the last two days alone, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have intensified their operations:
- On Sunday, at least 53 Palestinians were killed, including civilians and journalists. The attacks left streets filled with blood and cries for help.
- The IDF targeted Khan Younis, hitting shelters housing displaced families. The attack killed at least 20 people, including women and children, while many others were seriously injured.
One of the survivors shared, “We all want this conflict to end. Arab nations and others watching this massacre without taking action will have to answer to God.”
More Attacks in Khan Younis and Nuseirat
The IDF launched another deadly attack on Ahmad Abed Al-Aziz School in Khan Younis. At least 16 people were killed, and dozens were wounded. In Nuseirat Camp, a similar scenario unfolded where several civilians lost their lives, including a rescue worker and a journalist who were helping victims when the attack occurred.
The ongoing violence has caused immense humanitarian suffering, prompting repeated calls for an immediate ceasefire.
Humanitarian Crisis
The Gaza Strip has a population of around 2.3 million people, out of which 2% have died, and 4% are injured due to Israeli military operations. The constant bombings have displaced thousands of families, leaving them without homes, food, or medical assistance.
Israel’s Move in Golan Heights
While Gaza remains under attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a new plan to double the population in the Golan Heights. This area, a rocky plateau in southwest Syria, has been under Israeli control since 1967.
Netanyahu stated that Israel does not seek conflict with Syria but desires peace. The Golan Heights already houses over 30 Israeli settlements with a population exceeding 20,000 people. However, the announcement sparked strong opposition from Syrian rebel groups and Iran.
Last week, Israel also gained control over the Golan Heights buffer zone after political instability in Syria. Netanyahu’s plan is seen as a move to further strengthen Israeli hold in the region.
Key Statistics
- 45,025 Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks (14 months)
- 109,062 Palestinians injured
