“We are in danger, save us…”, Pakistani journalist speaks on the map of ‘Akhand Bharat’ amid Lok Sabha elections

A controversy has erupted in Pakistan over the depiction of the foundation map of ‘Akhand Bharat’ in the new Parliament amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in India. Pakistani journalists and foreign affairs experts have alleged that it poses a threat to the security of neighboring countries of India. They argue that India aims to assert its claim over neighboring countries through this.

Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir questioned on his talk show on Geo TV whether if a map is displayed in the parliament of any country, which includes 5-6 neighboring countries and openly declares that Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan – all these will become part of India. Does Pakistan have any international forum where they can go and say that our security is in danger, we are in danger… save us?

In response to Hamid Mir’s question, Pakistani diplomat Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry said that all countries should oppose it diplomatically.

Outburst against Arab countries over maintaining friendship with India

Hamid Mir said that Arab countries should also oppose the map of ‘Akhand Bharat’. Targeting Arab countries for enhancing friendship with India, he said, ‘Especially those Arab countries who shower praises on Modi Sahab. They should be told to maintain friendship with them but see what they are saying about you.’

In response to this, Pakistani diplomat Ejaz Ahmad said that currently Arab countries are busy increasing their trade with India, they do not see what India thinks about them.

He further said, ‘India believes that the Arabs who came here several hundred years ago are infiltrators and they have to be killed or removed from the country in any way. And this is happening… You have seen that the condition of Muslims in India is very bad.’

‘Necessity to respond to India’s attitude’

During the talk show, Pakistani lawyer and international affairs expert Ahmar Bilal Sufi said that if any country issues a map and if any country does not agree with it, then it is its legal duty to react. If the country does not react, it means that it is silently accepting it.

He said, ‘It is extremely dangerous where a country intends to capture all the neighboring countries. India wants to assert its claim over all its neighboring countries, this is a serious development under international law, this is a very dangerous attitude of India. It is necessary to respond to this attitude because if you do not, it will be considered that you are leaning towards accepting it.’

Mentioning Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Bilal Sufi said that an official narrative is being created in India that we will make Akhand Bharat. Last year in February, CM Yogi had said that in the coming times, the dream of ‘Akhand Bharat’ will be fulfilled.

What is the concept of ‘Akhand Bharat’?

The term ‘Akhand Bharat’ is used to refer to the concept of Unified India, which suggests that today’s Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka were part of ‘Akhand Bharat’.

The agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) revolves around ‘Akhand Bharat’. The RSS believes that the region of Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Tibet constitutes a nation based on Hindu cultural similarities.

Clarification by India on the map displayed in Parliament

India has already provided clarification regarding the foundation map of ‘Akhand Bharat’ displayed in Parliament, considering the opposition from countries like Pakistan and Nepal.

Last year, the then spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Arindam Bagchi, had said, ‘The foundation map displayed in the Parliament is depicting the Ashoka Empire. These foundation stones represent the responsible and dedicated government for the people. The foundation map and the plaque in front of it convey the same message.’
