King Charles III banknotes: The Bank of England on Tuesday introduced the design of the first set of bank notes depicting Britain’s King Charles III. The portrait of King Charles (74) III will appear on the current design of all four polymer (plastic) banknotes in denominations of £5, £10, £20 and £50. There will be no other change to the current design of the bank notes which feature the portrait of his late mother Queen Elizabeth II.

Andrew Bailey, Governor of the Bank of England, said: “I am very proud that the Bank is releasing the design of our new banknote which will feature the image of King Charles III.” He said, “This is a very important moment, because the Maharaja is the second emperor to appear on our bank notes. People will be able to use these new notes as soon as they come into circulation in the year 2024.”
